2025 Board Election

Director District Positions

Notice is hereby given that Prairie Lakes AEA will be accepting Statement of Candidacy submissions for the election of five AEA board members. The director district board positions open for election are:

PLAEA Director District MapDistrict 1 – Four-Year Term

Emmetsburg, Estherville Lincoln Central, Graettinger-Terril, Harris-Lake Park, North Kossuth, North Union, Okoboji, Ruthven-Ayrshire, and Spirit Lake

District 2 – Two-Year Term*

Albert City-Truesdale, Alta-Aurelia, Clay Central Everly, Laurens-Marathon, Schaller-Crestland, Sioux Central, Spencer, and Storm Lake

 District 3 – Two-Year Term*

Algona, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Eagle Grove, Gilmore City-Bradgate, Humboldt, Pocahontas Area, Twin Rivers, and West Bend-Mallard

District 4 – Four-Year Term

Fort Dodge and Webster City

 District 5 – Two-Year Term*

East Sac County, Greene County, Manson Northwest Webster, Newell-Fonda, Paton Churdan, South Central Calhoun, South Hamilton, Southeast Valley, and Stratford

 * While the full term of office for all seats is four years, as a result of redistricting, each of the five seats has been assigned a designated expiration date in either 2027 or 2029.

Election Details

The board of directors of an Area Education Agency shall be elected by a vote of the members of the boards of directors of the local school districts located within the director district. The member of the Area Education Agency board to be elected may be a member of a local school district board of directors and shall be an elector and a resident of the director district, but shall not be a school district employee. A member of an area education agency board shall not serve on the board of directors of a merged area.

How to File for Candidacy

A candidate for election to the Area Education Agency board shall file a statement of candidacy with the Prairie Lakes AEA board secretary no later than Oct. 15, 2025.  The statement of candidacy form is available at the school board offices in the corresponding Director District and the administrative office of Prairie Lakes AEA, 1235 5th Ave South, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.


Superintendent Positions

Board members shall serve on the Prairie Lakes AEA Board of Directors beginning the first regular meeting of December 2025.
