Curriculum Launch for OpenSciEd

This professional learning focuses on the instructional routines, assessment design, & unit specific learning for middle and high school science teachers, instructional coaches, & administrators. While the instructional routines are used in all OpenSciEd units, they are transferable to all NGSS-designed units.

Outline of Learning:

  • Day 1 (8:30 - 3:30, one-hour lunch) Student lens immersion of the Anchoring Phenomenon routine followed by teacher lens analysis of the AP. A thorough review & analysis of the following routines is included on this day: Navigation, Investigation, Putting the Pieces Together, & Problematizing.
  • Day 2 (8:30 - 3:30, one-hour lunch) Assessment & Unit Specific Storyline
  • Day 3 (8:30 - 11:30) Creating a Grading Plan & Unit Specific time
