Register for April 16 Iowa Science Standards Module 4

In collaboration with the Iowa Department of Education, Prairie Lakes AEA will host 2 days of professional learning to support teachers in implementing the Iowa Science Standards. This session will focus on how teachers can integrate literacy standards and strategies into science instruction that incorporates the three dimensions of the Iowa Science Standards. This session will be held April 16 via Zoom. Click this link to learn more and to register.

In this course, teachers will experience best practices for supporting students' use of reading, writing, speaking, and listening to promote students’ understanding of Iowa's Science Standards.  Literacy strategies (e.g. close reading, annotating text, creating/analyzing graphs, etc.) that can assist students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening for understanding in science will be modeled.  The Science and Engineering Practices that support developmental literacy for all learners will be the focus for the session.
