Word Identification Strategy workshop planned
THE SIM/KU Team at Prairie Lakes AEA will offer a one-day training entitled The Word Identification Strategy. This strategy would be applicable for general education, special education, and ELL teachers as well as interventionists to use within interventions and specially designed instruction for students that struggle to decode multi-syllabic words. These students often are slow readers due to the energy they are using to break longer words apart which often interferes with their comprehension. In order to benefit from this strategy, students should be reading at least at a fourth grade level.
