Register now for summer/fall math classes

The Prairie Lakes Math Team is excited to offer the following math learning opportunities to teachers in our area.  

The option of registering for one license renewal credit will be available at the first class.  

For Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade Teachers:
    What is the Math?  Number Sense/Number Trajectories - Participants will need to have a copy of Number Sense Routines, Building Numerical Literacy Every Day in Grades K-3, by Jessica Shumway.  For this class there will be two face-to-face sessions held at the Prairie Lakes AEA office in Pocahontas, Iowa and two Zoom meetings which will be held virtually.
        August 14th        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    8:30-3:30
        September 12th    Zoom                3:30-5:00
        October 13th        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    8:30-3:30
        November 20th        Zoom                3:30-5:00

For 2nd-4th Grade Teachers:
    Number Sense Routines and Number Talks - Participants will need to have their own copy of Number Sense Routines, Building Numerical Literacy Every Day in Grades K-3, by Jessica Shumway and access to Number Talks: Whole Number Computation, Grades K–5: A Multimedia Professional Learning Resource,  by Sherry Parrish.  For this class there will be three face-to-face sessions at the Prairie Lakes AEA office in Pocahontas.  
        August 15th        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    9:00-3:00
        October 16th        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    9:00-3:00
        November 7th        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    9:00-3:00
Please register at:  Second - Fourth Grade Math sessions summer/fall 2017.

For 4th-8th Grade Teachers:
    Number Talks, Beyond Whole Numbers - Participants will need to have their own copy of Making Number Talks Matter, Developing Mathematical Practices and Deepening Understanding, Grades 4-10, by Cathy Humphreys and Ruth Parker and access to Number Talks: Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages: A Multimedia Professional Learning Resource, by Sherry Parrish.  For this class there will be four face-to-face sessions at the Prairie Lakes AEA office in Pocahontas.  
        August 16        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    9:00-2:00
        October 10        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    9:00-2:00
        November 6th        Prairie Lakes AEA, Pocahontas    9:00-2:00
