Supporting NGSS-Aligned Classrooms for Administrators, Instructional Coaches, & K-12 Educators
This course will be held June 25-27 at the PLAEA office in Fort Dodge. It's designed for administrators and instructional coaches that support science teachers. Participants will learn how to use the Instructional Leadership for Science Practices tools to support three-dimensional teaching and learning. Tools for observation and supervision will be shared that can be used to gauge the facilitation (teacher) and use (students) of the science practices during three-dimensional lessons.
Participants will plan and practice a post observation conference that provides focused feedback, identifies key levers, and identifies resources to support teachers in their learning.
Alignment to district evaluation and observation tools, such as the 5D+ Framework, TAP Evaluation System from the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching, and the Iowa Teaching Standards, will be completed by participants to learn how the tools can extend and support one another in creating student-centered science classrooms.
This course may be completed for license renewal credit.
