Social Studies Standards Implementation: Taking Informed Action with Children's Books
Are you thinking ahead to implementing the new Social Studies standards next fall? This course will dive largely into the works of Peter Reynolds as a starting point for how children's books can launch opportunities for students to take informed action with the new social studies standards. The course will span three weeks, focusing first on appropriate books, second, what it means to take informed action, and finally, lesson design. While the course will focus on children's books, participation is not limited to elementary teachers.
This class will begin June 8 and take place online, largely asynchronously.
