Substitute Authorization virtual courses planned in June
We are offering a 15-hour course that would allow an individual to be a substitute teacher. Those completing this course would be authorized to substitute teach in a elementary, middle school, junior high school, or high school for no more than five consecutive days in one job assignment. An individual who holds a Paraeducator Certificate AND completes this course will be authorized to substitute ONLY in the special education classroom in which the individual paraeducator is employed (elementary, middle school, junior high school, or high school) for no more than five consecutive days and no more than 10 days in a 30-day period. The four core components of the course are Classroom Management, Strategies for Learning, Diversity and Ethics.
June 18, 22, 23, 25 & 28. Virtual Zoom meetings will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. on June 18, 25 and 28. June 22-23 will not be face-to-face meetings but rather individual work to be completed online (readings, discussions etc.). Please use this these dates as a reminder to complete the necessary work for the course. 100% participation and attendance is required.
