Rapid Literacy: ELL Strategies for Secondary Emergent Readers
Do you serve English learners who struggle to decode text at grade level? Decoding is an essential skill because it is the foundation upon which all other reading is built. This training will offer practice methods to help non-English readers accelerate their literacy in the target language. Learn strategies that are based on research and the presenter's classroom experience.
This training is now virtual. There is no cost, and all participants will receive a copy of the presenter's book, "Boosting Achievement for Underschooled Students."
Presenter: Carol Salva, an educational consultant with a background in ESL, literacy, bilingual, and special education. She is a former elementary educator and most recently taught newcomer English Language Development at both the middle and high school level.
Intended Audience: Middle/High School EL Teachers and ELA Teachers
Date and Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m, Oct. 28 OR Oct. 29
