October schedule for Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI) training
As we all continue to adjust our plans to provide safe environments for continued learning and professional development, our CPI team has revised how this fall’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) trainings will be held and supported. Rather than bringing groups of educators from our area districts to one location for full-day trainings and refresher courses, we will be hosting half-day regional trainings primarily via Zoom.
Recognizing the shortage of substitutes, and to further accommodate educator’s schedules, we will be shifting gears once again for the October sessions and taking advantage of CPI’s new Blended Learning opportunities which allow participants to complete the first portion online and when most convenient for them. We will wrap the training up via zoom and complete the evaluations and tests online so that the certification is complete and no further visits are required.
Our CPI team will follow up with schools throughout the year and remain available for assisting with practice sessions and reviews as needed. Each district with a team registered this Fall will also receive a CPI Competency-Based Training Kit that includes a deck of cards with detailed descriptions and key principles of the physical skills for your team to review and reference following the training.
