STEP Up for Women seeks high school physics teachers
Do you know a current or former high school physics teacher interested in creating inclusive classrooms and increasing the number of women in physics? Encourage them to apply now to become a STEP UP 4 Women Ambassador! Participants will attend an Ambassador Cohort Summit at the AAPT Summer 2019 meeting in Provo, Utah to meet with their fellow Ambassadors. Together, they will help introduce hundreds of teachers to STEP UP resources throughout the year, reflect as a cohort, and provide vital feedback to STEP UP program partners. Ambassadors will earn a $1,000 stipend and recognition for their year term.
PhysTEC is partnering with STEP UP 4 Women, a national movement to empower high school physics teachers to inspire young women to study physics. If half of the high school physics teachers encourage just one more female student to pursue physics as a major, a historic shift will be initiated – female students will make up 50% of incoming physics majors.
Deadline is Feb. 1.Read more about program requirements and apply here.https://www.aps.org/programs/education/su4w/ambassadors.cfm
