THE TRAINING WILL INCLUDE:
• Hands-on techniques educators can start using Monday.
• Overview of balanced literacy and foundations of literacy development.
• Practical methods that build decoding skills while supporting students at grade level. • Modeling of sheltered instruction practices that boost achievement of all learners.
EL Teachers and ELA Teachers in middle schools and high schools. Instructional Coaches are also encouraged to attend.

Al Exito Mental Health Youth Taskforce

In 2018 Al Éxito responded to a growing mental health concern for Latinx youth in Iowa by creating a statewide study. A Youth Mental Health Taskforce was created to analyze the research study and outlined actionable steps that can improve the mental health of Latinx youth in Iowa. This session will cover key findings from the mental health and school access studies and how today's environment is causing trauma for Iowa’s Latinx population.
Creating a Safe Space for Latinx Students in Schools

This session will provide best practices and strategies to create a welcoming climate for students. Al Éxito youth will present their action-oriented recommended practices that can positively impact Latinx youth experiences in schools. Examples of partner staff and administrators’ actions that created an inclusive environment for students will be highlighted.
