Standards-Aligned curriculum development through coaching
Teachers are reaching out to instructional coaches for support in developing learning opportunities that can meet the needs of their students in virtual, hybrid, and classroom settings.
PLAEA staff in partnership with Sioux Central CSD developed a course for teachers to receive license renewal credit for their hard work. The course was designed with Student-Centered Coaching and Jim Knight's High Impact Instruction in mind with a heavy emphasis on co-planning content, instruction, and formative assessment. The course, PL – Standards-Aligned Curriculum Development Through Coaching, is designed for teachers to collaborate with a coach in the development and/or refinement of curriculum. The intent is for teachers to hone their skills in effective, standards-aligned teaching and learning practices that provide access for all students to learn and demonstrate grade-level standards. Teachers will have an opportunity to think about student learning needs in the traditional classroom and in a virtual environment with a focus on using formative assessment to guide instruction.
